What is your type?

There are three different somatotypes commonly used to classify the human body: endomorphs, mesomorphs, and ectomorphs. It is not a rule or type written on stone. However, most of us exhibit more than one somatotype at once. This form of crude genetic stereotyping is the brainchild of a psychologist named William H Sheldon. In the 1940’s Sheldon sought connection between body type and temperament. He found several different types but later consolidated them. He finally came up with three body types.

Several attempts were made to debunk this method, but none could stand the test of time. However, it should be known that this method still has many flaws. Nonetheless, you can correlate well with Sheldon’s assessments with your own body type. I will discuss each somatotype in the coming blog entries. I would like to shed some light on this type of classification. Thereby, better understanding dawns on you as certain traits indicate towards a particular body type. For example, you might have heard when some people say that they smell food and gain fat. Also, you may have heard the flipside when people say that how much ever they eat they won’t gain weight.

So the question “What is your type” still remains, but you will soon find the answer.
