Never Let Go.

I have just finished studying a wonderful book titled Never Let Go by Dan John. The insight which the Author provides is deeply thought provoking. Though sounding very simple in his book and outlook when it comes to training his athletes, he has found his niche in this fitness arena, which is usually bombarded by new fads instead of speaking the truth like Dan does. The book also helps us to break all the shackles in the mundane training philosophy that we all believe in.
You may ask me the benefit you would derive from the book. Well, a chapter on goal setting written by Dan John is worth discussing here, for people usually lack the commitment in focusing on their goals. He states three degrees in goal setting: Should Could and Must.
Majority of people dwell in the SHOULD phase: I should lose a couple of pounds. I should get to the gym a little more often. I should try to keep an eye on my eating. Next is the COULD phase: You know I could lose a couple of pounds. I could do the low carb thing. You know, I could get to the gym a little more often. I could go right after work. You know, I could keep an eye on my diet a little better.
But Dan John emphatically states that the SHOULD and COULD phase do not matter at all, because to be truly great, you have got to make your goals musts. That is the key to success in sports and weight training.
Now, ask yourself how many of you belong to the must group?
