My Practice

Do you want to know more about my training?  Usually in the mornings I lift weights, and in the evenings I practice the drills—planche, front lever, and hand stand.  Since the weather is extremely hot my routine in the evenings has taken a back seat, for I am unable to push my body.  The dehydration doesn’t help me in my practice, and I can’t perform the routine movements not for more than an hour.

I very well know it’s just a matter of time before I get back to the usual routine, for though I am present mentally the physical body doesn’t assist me.   However, I always visualize that Steve Atlas—my coach is right behind me and prodding each time to give my best.  I have been practicing these drills for more than year, and due to my medical condition I know that I continue to fail especially in the planche and hand stand.  The front lever is the one drill which I am getting better, as this movement doesn’t require much of balance.  However, I have to say that I am not the one to get bogged down.

I remind myself of what Thomas Edison says.  He says, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”  I know that persistence pays, and it pays big time.  Shiva Prasad, my colleague, in the gym assists me every time when I practice the hand stand.  He has seen me fail always.  However, I can say that my planche was at its very best yesterday—the 28th ofApril.  Unfortunately, I didn’t video it.  I will record it in the coming days.  I want my coach–Steve to be proud of me.

Below are pictures of my planche and front lever practice.  You can see that I am relatively better performing the front lever.  The planche isn’t perfect, as my arm is slightly bent.
