Are You Faking?

“Our society has become very good at faking it: we fake liking jobs we hate; we fake enjoying lives that we detest; we fake being happy when we’re miserable inside. We fake being who we aren’t and yes, we even fake financial wealth when we’re living month-to-month. Well, you can’t fake success or happiness, no matter how hard you try, so don’t bother. Further, if you work hard, and pay the price of success, you’ll never have to “fake it.” If you do some self-reflection and determine what makes you happy, you don’t have to fake it.”
This is in an excerpt from the book titled Live Life Aggressively! What Self HELP Gurus Should Be Telling You written by Mike Mahler. This is the only self-book which I am thoroughly enjoying. I have tried reading few self-help books, but they all were beating around the bush. In other words, they all spoke about positive affirmations instead of answering your questions. However, Mahler statements in the book are genuine, and he tackles several queries, that usually torment us, head on.
Coming to the above statement by Mike, don’t you think we all fake several things in life? It is time, as Mike asserts to reflect on these things and try our best to be truthful to ourselves. We might fake others, but we can’t fake ourselves.
Don’t ask me the reason for speaking about a general topic. I know that this is a blog meant to address about fitness. However, I believe a healthy body requires a healthy mind. To possess a healthy mind it’s imperative to lead a truthful life.
