Hand strength is one of the most important elements in functional strength training.  Thick bar work is one of the very best method to enhance hand strength.  Handling thick bars in your upper body exercises will raise your hands, forearms, and wrists level of strength and development to an unimaginable extent.

Brooks Kubik, a prolific writer on strength training has authored various books such as : Dinosaur Training, which is called as the Bible Of Strength Training, Legacy Of Iron, Grey Hair And Black Iron, Strength Muscle And Power, and a monthly magazine called the Dino files.  He is also a  five time national champion in bench press competition.  He is 53 years old and trains at his garage gym and proudly calls him a garage gorilla.  He has popularized the use of thick bars and recommends the use of thick bars in our routines.  He says, “Thick bars cause you to work harder than if you were using a normal bar.  Remember, muscular contraction is linked to the nervous system.  Using a thick bar causes your body to work exceptionally hard to balance and control the weights.  It involves your hands to a much greater degree than does a regular bar, and your hands are better connected to the nervous system than any other part of your body.”

Isaac Newton had said, “If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants.”    I am fortunate to follow the footsteps of such giants and I can readily state that Brooks stands among one of those giants.  For, I have without a doubt embraced his ideas in training my clients.  Hence, Fat Gripz has been a ready feature at my gym, as they precisely simulate what the thick bar does.

I have invested on two more pairs of Fat Gripz and another  training modality which works exclusively on the grip strength.  You can view those newly added facilities in the adjoining video.
