If You Could Change One Aspect Of the Fitness Industry What Would It Be?

If you could change one aspect of the fitness industry what would it be?  I would love to operate a fitness facility which has everything under one roof.  For example, gym, badminton courts, swimming pool, tennis courts, running track, football field, etc.   Similarly, I would love to explain the importance of strength training to one and all, as gaining strength is elementary and foundational to most of the sporting events and for a layman too. As Socrates rightly says, “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training.  It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable of.”

Particularly educating the young and old.

The young can lead a healthy lifestyle for years to come and the old can fight the ravages of old age in an efficient way.  Importantly the older population can tackle muscle wasting, diabetes, losing bone density, helping them to be mobile and athletic, etc.  Yes the benefits of strength training are several.  Strength training should be thus made a part of the curriculum in schools and colleges.

Whichever field of expertise you choose, the benefits of strength training should be taught.  The purpose of such a step is to make strength training second natured, creating a habit pattern.  It eventually becomes a part of your lifestyle.  Ha!  Also, it would be nice to see a community with no potbellies, obesity, muscular atrophy, etc.  The benefits would spill over to other areas as well.    The advantages you derive would be numerous.   Abstaining from junk foods, excess alcohol consumption, smoking cigarettes, etc.  If you look at the larger picture, it can be highly beneficial in developing a healthy society.  It can also help in nurturing healthy individuals—mentally and physically, as they both go hand in hand.

I know that there is rampant use of steroids and fat burners in the fitness industry.   So performance enhancing drugs are abused not only by athletes but also by every Tom, Dick and Harriet, which is needless.  Also, there are numerous other reasons in the fitness industry, which are wrong at the outset. We can continue to rant about the pitfalls of the present fitness industry, but I believe addressing this problem by taking care of the root cause can fix it.  So education is the way out.
