Some Food For Thought

Today’s write up is based on a quote I came across while reading the book of Al Kavadlo titled Stretching Your Boundaries. As the title says it is a book on flexibility training and how to integrate that into your present regime. Kavadlo has written several books on calisthenics and its related topics. He has an encyclopedic knowledge and no nonsense approach on physical training.

However, this blog entry speaks only about a quote that is presented in his book. The beginning of each chapter comes with a thought provoking quotation. But this one caught my attention.

The quote:

“What are these barriers that keep people from reaching anywhere near their potential? The answer to that can be found in another question and that’s this: Which is the most universal human characteristic: fear or laziness?” Louis H. Mackey

So true indeed! I believe the quotation needs no further explanation. Nonetheless, I would like to add a quotation that is pasted on my gym wall which is similar to the above statement. Voltaire says, “Indolence is sweet and its consequences bitter.”

I hope this provides some food for thought.
