“The average adult laughs 15 times a day; the average child, more than 400 times.” ~~ Martha Beck

Ha! Irony! I believe this explains why we adults fight so many mental disorders like fear, anxiety, stress, etc. I can understand that life to a child’s perspective is different from what we adults conceive. However, the least we can do is to laugh or for the better learn to laugh at ourselves. I believe to laugh at ourselves would be enlightening and liberating. Moreover, we take our lives too seriously where we don’t have the time to laugh.
I haven’t digressed from what this blog intends to do. I am merely suggesting that healthy living is not only about being physically fit and strong but also to possess a healthy mind. For a healthy mind to exist laughter is prerequisite. Moreover, laughter has numerous health benefits such as
It relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.
It boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
It triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
It protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
Lastly, I will quote what Paul E. McGhee Ph.D. says about laughter. He says, “Your sense of humor is the most powerful tool you have to make certain that your daily mood and emotional state support good health.”
PS: “Laughter opens the lungs, and the lungs ventilates the spirit.”
