RIP Nasser El Sonbaty

I am saddened by the death of Nasser. He was a professional bodybuilder who had won the 1999 Arnold classic bodybuilding competition. He died on the 20th of March 2013. He was 47 years old. When I started lifting weights muscle magazines were the ready source of information to know-how about bodybuilding. In many of those magazines that I devoured Nasser was many times featured as the poster boy. I had read several articles that featured his lifestyle, training regimen, dieting strategies, and bodybuilding contests won.

Later years, however, I started to abhor professional bodybuilding. I realized that they used performance enhancing drugs to achieve the desired results. Any form of physical training is to improve your health and wellbeing. Steroids has/had no place, whatsoever.

The prematured death of Nasser Sonbaty is truly disturbing. I don’t understand what message professional bodybuilders are conveying by dying unceremoniously. What could be the possible cause? It is suspected to be a heart failure, enlarged heart, or kidney failure. All these causes indicate steroid abuse.

Many gym buffs are known to use these performance enhancing drugs to fasten muscle building. It is high time you think twice before indulging in such practices.
