My Visit to The Local Bakery.

I went to the bakery two days ago. My wife was sick, and she asked me to pick up some bread. I went to a famous local bakery. It was pretty crowded. I was standing in a queue. I was amazed at what I saw. I saw that the people who had come were mindlessly buying varieties of bakery products. The delivery man was surprised when I asked him to give me only a pound of bread.
It has been nearly two decades since I have consumed any bakery products. My wife and daughter occasionally consume them. I have been repeatedly telling them that they can occassionally treat themselves with these eatables. Fortunately, they continue to listen to my words.
It is known that hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are used in commercially baked goods and fast foods. They act as a preservative, extending shelf life. Hydrogenation is an artificial process that changes the shape of the fat molecule. Our bodies cannot recognize and do not deal with it properly. Moreover, hydrogenated vegetable oils contain trans-fats. Trans-fat raises the level of bad cholesterol (LDL) and lowers levels of good cholesterol (HDL). That, in turn, is a cause for heart diseases and diabetes.
I wanted to shout out loud in the bakery and tell people that they should not be eating bakery food. I very well know that if I had done so, they would have in turn shouted at me and called me a madman. I sadly returned back with the pound of bread. However, I was delighted. My daughter who was with me all along didn’t ask me to buy her anything from the bakery.

HI Vishwa, Its really unfortunate that people are just falling towards all artificial stuff. Its even becomes very tough when they promote them in a hyped manner.
Exactly. Kitti, I agree with you. I believe we are all failing as a society.
Talk about bakery food and I can give you sermons after sermons…AT my workplace free snacks are served “bakery stuff” and after consuming them for 5-6 months I got the scare of my life when I discovered my LDL was high and HDL just below the normal range despite me slogging at the gym…that’s when I decided to carry lunch box and also pack some healthy nuts and fruits as a mid-afternoon snack which keeps me satiated for 3 hrs…Now within 6 weeks, my cholesterol levels are well in the normal range..
