Why Should You Lock The Barbell?

I know that the message to use locks/collars on a weighted barbell may sound paltry. But we should know that debilitating injuries to the, all-important, lower back can occur, which may force you to terminate your weightlifting passion. We should also know that many athletic careers have been marred by injuries, and injuries can creep in at any moment anyway without our notice. For example, when you are squatting or dead-lifting heavy, the weights on the barbell merely slumps as shown in the video.
If you had suggested me to be wary about these so called trifling issues few years back, I would have unheeded and debated it as frivolous, but now after repeated injuries I am extremely careful about every aspect of a weight training regime. Of course, you would want to be big and strong, but above all you have to be smart enough to train long enough: Life is a marathon not a sprint.
